Terms of Service

Last updated: July 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tarazel website, the Beacon applications, and any related services (together, the "Services") provided by Tarazel ("Tarazel," "we," "us"). By using the Services, you agree to these Terms.

The Services

Beacon is companion software for self-hosted home security cameras. Beacon connects to camera infrastructure that you operate and control. Tarazel does not provide the cameras or store your video. Certain features, such as managed push notifications and family multi-user access ("Beacon Pro"), may require a paid subscription.

Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide accurate information and promptly update it as needed. You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the Services.

Subscriptions and billing

Cancellations and refunds

You can cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid billing period, and it will not renew after that. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were billed in error, contact us at [email protected] and we will work with you in good faith.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Services, including by attempting to disrupt them, access them without authorization, or use them to violate any law or the rights of others.

Open-source components

Portions of Beacon are made available as open source under their respective licenses. Those licenses govern your use of that software and take precedence over these Terms to the extent of any conflict for that component.

Disclaimer

The Services are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Beacon is a convenience tool and is not a monitored alarm system or an emergency response service. Do not rely on it as your sole means of security or safety. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tarazel disclaims all implied warranties.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tarazel will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the Services.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
